Is O Really The Expert?

I was in my favorite store in the world, Walgreen's, the other day. It was that time of the month, so I had to get personal products, chocolate, and magazines. The magazines are to keep me busy so I won't cuss out folks. It used to be a pack of Black and Milds, but I had to give em up...just too many vices at one time. And last time I checked In Style doesn't cause cancer. So I'm on the magazine aisle perusing the issues, checking out the cover stories, just seeing what catches my eye. So I happened to notice one of the cover stories on Oprah's O Magazine was about dieting, and something occurred to me. It seems like every issue of O Magazine has some article about dieting..."Diets That Work" or "Take Off The Weight And Keep It Off". But my question to Oprah is, if all these diet tips worked, then how come they didn't work for you. Just this past year Oprah regained a reported 50 pounds, and this is just the latest weight gain. Its been a veritable roller coaster of ups and downs with regards to O's weight. I remember the first weight loss show, when she came out in her size ten jeans and black turtle neck, with the wagon that had the rubber blobs that was supposed to represent all the fat she lost I remember the "healthy" cookbook by her chef Rosie. I even bought the book...didn't cook anything...but I owned it. And now her fitness guru is Bob Greene and initially it looked like it worked, like most diets do, but like with all her other previous weight loss endeavors she gained the weight back. And to me the success of a weight loss program is judged on the ability to take the weight off, but also to keep the weight off. So I'm left thinking...when are we going to stop looking to Oprah as a credible source for weight loss guidance. Don't get me wrong... I love Oprah and I value her insight and opinion on many a subject. Hey...I still want to know what her favorite things are and book selections for the book club, but I think she's lost credibility in regards to weight. I don't need anymore dieting tips, tricks, or shortcuts Oprah...not until it works for you.

  4. Okay now Daniealle get out of my head! lol…I like Oprah sometimes but I love her because it’s God’s way to love thy neighbor….but anyways….lol….Yeah I think a lot of people who work for her writes a lot of that stuff. Oprah doesn’t take precious time out of each day to do any of that writing and it doesn’t come out of her head or her mouth. I do believe she has been on multiple diets and maybe some of the representatives of the people’s diets she has tried possible wrote it and she published it in her magazine. It’s apparent because of how her weight has been going up and down but then again we don’t know what she may be going through that keeps her weight like a seesaw. Me and my family aren’t too funned of Oprah since this one segment she had about religion. We are however happy for her and proud to know she is a black woman who is so highly successful….Girl just do what I do…I eat whatever I want, when I want to but I stay away from fast food and anything that pertains grease or are leaning on the greasy side!…You just you got to learn how to exercise properly and do it faithfully. Because almost everything you eat pertains calories, fat, sodium and etc. Nothing is really good for a diet. Because sometimes when people get upset and stressed, they tend to resort to food as an escape route. I wasn’t always this small and in shape….When I was sixteen up until I turned eighteen, I was on the thick side lol! That was around the time I was going through the storm! Lol Plus I come from a family of thick women with butts so big it looks like they are wearing it on their backs! Lol I have a few cousins who are thick as well. My mother and aunts were small sizes when they were kids, teenagers and in their early twenties but after having children it was over. Lol I got my mother back in shape and have her eating healthy! Thank God for that! Whenever I go to visit her we do a lot of yoga and Pilates workout routines. Pilates is her favorite! She eats a lot of fruits and vegetables and she loves her water, cranberry, orange juice and grape juice! My mother is fifty-five with five grown children and nine grandchildren (none are mines and my sister, just my three older brothers)! She looks like she is in her early thirties! She is back healthy and in shape and I am the help of that! I do yoga and exercising as a one of my stress relievers which also keeps me focused and in shape! You get a lot of beneficial factors from yoga and exercising….Try it Daniealle! It really does work!
